Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”

Jesus gives no indication that He is speaking of a soon-coming resurrection or of any involvement on His part. To all appearances, He is just making a general statement about resurrection, perhaps as some of the comforters (not Sadducees, of course) had been consoling the sisters with back at the house. However, Jesus accomplishes 2 things by His words: He turns Martha’s thoughts to those of resurrection and He sets the stage for His great declaration. Notice how Jesus has a great truth to impart to Martha and He sets her up to receive it. He still works the same way today. He prepares us to receive whatever He is going to give.
