But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.”
“even now” = is Martha asking Jesus to resurrect Lazarus from the dead? Are these words of hope? Probably not, or she would not have later objected so strongly to the command of Jesus to take away the stone from the tomb of Lazarus. Martha is probably saying here that she knows that God always (even now) gives Jesus that which He asks. It is another statement of faith in Jesus and His relationship with the Father, but it turns out that these words are also an unconscious prophecy of what is to come.
