Again he asked them, “Who is it you want?” And they said, “Jesus of Nazareth.”
Jesus could have taken advantage of their situation and escaped but He is still standing before them and repeats His question. Henry observes that “They did not lie long where they fell, but, by divine permission, got up again; it is only in the other world that God’s judgments are everlasting.”
Incredibly, they are still dead set on arresting Jesus, even after this display of His power. They undoubtedly explained away what had happened by physical means or anything but Christ’s power. Some hearts are so set upon their sin that nothing will cause them to see and accept the truth, not even a personally experienced miracle.
