Jesus declared, “Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.
Jesus refuses to be drawn into an argument. He uses the circumstances to give a greater revelation of God, but does not divert from His agenda of saving the woman. As Morris tells, “The woman had appealed to the example of ‘our fathers’. Jesus points her to the one Father.” (p. 269)
Both places of worship were to soon become desolate and God’s will for worship to not be located in any one place would soon come to be. Mal 1:11
Mal 1:11 My name will be great among the nations, from the rising to the setting of the sun. In every place incense and pure offerings will be brought to my name, because my name will be great among the nations,” says the LORD Almighty.
Why do you think God had ordained the building of the Temple at Jerusalem when His ultimate desire was for worship to not be limited to any one place?
