I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.
“has now come” = Jesus is talking about a present spiritual resurrection, not the future, physical one of John 5:28.
“Son of God” = Jesus likes to refer to himself as “the Son of Man” and sometimes “the Son,” but only 3 places in John does he refer to himself as “the Son of God.” He does it here to reaffirm to the Jewish leaders His relationship with the Father (v. 19 “Then answered Jesus and said unto them…”).
