And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.
Jesus tells us specifically what God’s will is:
- Those who have been drawn by the Father into the salvation of Jesus shall be secure in that salvation.
- Even though death may await the believer in the temporal realm, resurrection to a new life is guaranteed for the future.
How great a comfort we may draw from this revelation of the Father’s will! To paraphrase Morris, Our assurance is not based on our feeble hold on Christ, but on His sure grip on us. (368)
