I know you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are ready to kill me, because you have no room for my word.
Though they are the descendents of Abraham, they certainly do not act like him. They are seeking to kill Jesus and this action sets them apart from Abraham. (Luke 3:8)
Luke 3:8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.
no place = they have never received His word because they have never made room for it within themselves. Morris comments that “religious privilege does not guarantee a right attitude to the things of God.” Does this have any application for us? What religious privileges do we enjoy? How can we become reliant upon those privileges and miss the things of God? Have you made room for the words of Jesus?
