Finally they turned again to the blind man, “What have you to say about him? It was your eyes he opened.” The man replied, “He is a prophet.”

Morris observes that “It is a measure of their perplexity and division that they ask the man what he thinks of Jesus. Normally they would not have dreamed of putting a question on a religious issue to such a man.”

The man is fully aware of what the Pharisees think of Jesus and what the penalty for a follower of His will be (excommunication), but he is above all things brave and responds immediately with the highest place he was capable of assigning a man of God. He declared Jesus to be a prophet. (cf. the declaration of the Samaritan woman in John 4:19.)

John 4:19  “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet.

What about you? If you were in the blind man’s shoes (actually, his sandals), what would you have said? Has your faith been mixed with bravery and boldness, or does your fear of what others think of you keep you from responding as this man? Oh, that we had his attitude and would act accordingly to our faith!
