“Many more” is literally “more by much” in comparison with just “many” of verse #39. “Jesus was reaping more rapidly than the woman did.” (RWP)

John 4:39  Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.”

There are 2 reasons given in this passage of scripture for the Samaritans to have put their faith in Jesus:

  1. the testimony of the woman (verse #39)
  2. the words of Jesus (this verse)
