Why would anyone want to become a Christian? Do you really need Jesus? The answer to the last question is a resounding “Yes!”

The answer you may have already heard to the first question is that without Jesus you are doomed to eternal damnation. I know that’s pretty heavy stuff and we don’t like to talk about it these days, but it’s true never-the-less. Everybody has sinned (Romans 3:23) an uncountable number of times. The penalty for any sin is the same — eternal death, but God wants us to live with Him forever so He made a way to give us eternal life (Romans 6:23). Since God is perfect and must judge us according to our sins, He would have no choice but to condemn us unless Someone who had never sinned would take our place and die in our place.  That is exactly what Jesus did for you and for me. Now, thanks to Jesus, we can be forgiven for every sin we have ever committed, whether large or small in our eyes, and be adopted into God’s family with full rights of being His child (Gal 4:4-7).

Cool! But that’s not all. Jesus didn’t come to only give us “pie in the sky;” He also gives us a full and meaningful life here and now (John 10:10). We were created to have a close relationship with God and that relationship has been restored through the work of Christ. God now fills the life of the Christian with all the good things — love, peace, direction, and wonderful joy. Do you need Jesus? Absolutely! Do you want this life He has promised?
