Before you start reading the commentary you may want to know what my beliefs are.

I am what is called a “conservative Christian” which basically means that I believe everything the Bible says.

  • I believe the Bible is God’s Word, inspired by Him and written through men as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
  • I believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God the Father, that He was sent to bring us salvation by living a completely sinless life and then dying in our place, thus satisfying God’s righteous law.
  • I believe He is coming again to take everyone who has accepted His saving grace to live with Him in heaven forever, and that those who reject Him will be banished from Him forever in a place of torment.
  • I believe Jesus was born to a virgin and that He is God, just as is the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Those are my doctrinal beliefs. Part of my personal belief system is that God wants us to grow every day more into the likeness of His Son. I believe Christians fall short of living a life of love and being a beacon to a lost and dying world. And I believe the heart of Christianity is having and developing a personal relationship with Jesus Himself. If I have not yet scared you off, let’s take a look at my favorite book —  the Gospel of John.
